Product Condition Policy
Learn how Ranmar Tractor Supply describes new, surplus, used, pre-owned, refurbished and other heavy equipment parts, components and attachments offered for sale.
Understanding the Condition of Your Equipment Parts
Ranmar Tractor Supply supplies parts, components, attachments and equipment for agricultural, construction and other heavy machinery applications. Because our inventory may include products from different sources and in different conditions, clearly identifying product condition is an important part of the purchasing process.
This policy explains the terminology that may be used to describe products available through Ranmar Tractor Supply and what customers should consider before purchasing new, surplus, used or refurbished equipment components.
The condition stated on the individual product listing should always be reviewed before placing an order because not every condition category applies to every product.
1. Our Product Condition Commitment
Ranmar Tractor Supply aims to describe the condition of products as clearly and accurately as reasonably possible using the information available for each individual item.
Depending on available inventory, products may include new, surplus, pre-owned, used, refurbished, reconditioned or other appropriately described equipment components.
We do not intend to represent a used product as new or a refurbished product as factory-new.
2. Product Condition Categories
The following descriptions explain common condition terminology that may appear on Ranmar Tractor Supply product listings.
New
An item represented as unused or new. Packaging, storage history and other characteristics may vary depending on the individual product.
New Surplus
Unused inventory that may come from surplus, excess, older or discontinued stock. Packaging may show age, storage or warehouse handling even where the component itself is unused.
Used / Pre-Owned
A previously owned or operated item. Used products may show evidence of previous installation, operation, storage or normal cosmetic wear.
Refurbished / Reconditioned
A previously used component that has undergone an applicable inspection, repair, rebuilding, cleaning, reconditioning or refurbishment process before resale.
Additional descriptive terminology may be used where necessary to accurately explain the condition of a particular item.
3. New Products
Products identified as new are represented as unused based on the available product information.
A new product may not necessarily have identical packaging to another new product of the same type. Packaging can vary because of manufacturer changes, storage, distribution, inventory age or other legitimate circumstances.
Customers should review the product listing to determine what is included with the particular item.
4. New Surplus Parts & Components
New surplus inventory can be particularly relevant in the heavy equipment industry where customers may need components for older machines or equipment configurations.
A product described as new surplus is generally unused inventory but may have characteristics associated with warehouse storage, excess stock, older inventory or discontinued product lines.
Depending on the individual item, these characteristics may include:
- Older manufacturer packaging;
- Replacement or non-original packaging;
- Warehouse labels or inventory markings;
- Dust or storage residue;
- Minor cosmetic marks caused by handling or storage;
- Older production dates; or
- Packaging showing age or shelf wear.
Such characteristics do not necessarily mean that the component has previously been used.
5. Used & Pre-Owned Parts
Used and pre-owned products have previously been owned, installed, operated or otherwise used.
The appearance of used heavy equipment components can vary substantially depending on their previous application, age, environment, operating history and storage.
Used products may show:
- Scratches or surface marks;
- Paint wear or discoloration;
- Previous mounting or installation marks;
- Normal surface oxidation;
- Grease, residue or signs of prior service;
- Previous labels or identification markings;
- Minor dents or cosmetic imperfections; or
- Other reasonable evidence of previous use.
These characteristics should be considered when purchasing a product clearly identified as used or pre-owned.
6. Refurbished, Reconditioned & Rebuilt Components
A refurbished, reconditioned or rebuilt component is not the same as a product represented as factory-new.
Depending on the component and the work performed, the process may include one or more of the following:
- Inspection;
- Cleaning;
- Disassembly where appropriate;
- Repair;
- Replacement of applicable worn components;
- Reassembly;
- Reconditioning;
- Testing where applicable; or
- Other product-appropriate work.
The precise work performed can vary according to the component. Customers should therefore rely on the individual product description rather than assuming that every refurbished product has undergone an identical process.
7. Cosmetic Condition vs. Functional Condition
Cosmetic appearance and functional condition are separate considerations, particularly for used, surplus and refurbished heavy machinery components.
A component may have cosmetic wear that does not necessarily determine its functional suitability. Conversely, appearance alone should not be used to determine mechanical condition.
Where material functional information is provided for a product, customers should consider that information together with the condition description and available photographs.
8. Product Photographs
Photographs may be provided to help customers evaluate a product, particularly where condition varies from one unit to another.
When photographs depict the actual individual used or surplus product, customers should inspect visible condition carefully before ordering.
In some circumstances, product images may be representative rather than photographs of the exact individual unit. The written description and stated product condition should therefore also be reviewed.
9. Packaging Condition
Packaging condition is not always the same as product condition. This is particularly relevant for surplus and older inventory.
A new or unused component may have packaging showing storage, handling, labels, fading, shelf wear or age.
A product may also be placed into suitable replacement packaging for protection during storage or shipment.
Unless the packaging itself is specifically represented as part of the value of the product, packaging condition should not be treated as the sole indicator of the condition of the component.
10. Manufacturer & Authenticity Information
Product condition does not by itself determine whether a product is an original manufacturer component or an aftermarket replacement.
For example, an original manufacturer product may be new, surplus, used or refurbished depending on the individual item.
Likewise, an aftermarket replacement product may be offered in a condition accurately stated on its product listing.
For information concerning manufacturer references, genuine components and aftermarket products, please review our Product Authenticity Policy .
11. Aftermarket & Replacement Components
Where Ranmar Tractor Supply offers an aftermarket or compatible replacement component, the product should be evaluated according to both its stated condition and its manufacturer or compatibility description.
The fact that a product is aftermarket does not mean that it is used, and the fact that a product is used does not automatically mean that it is aftermarket.
Customers should review these characteristics separately when evaluating a product.
12. Part Numbers & Compatibility
The physical condition of a component does not establish that the component is compatible with a particular machine.
Heavy equipment parts may vary according to:
- Manufacturer;
- Machine model;
- Serial number;
- Production year;
- Configuration;
- Engine or equipment specification;
- Attachment interface;
- Part-number supersession; and
- Other technical differences.
Customers should verify compatibility independently from product condition.
If you need help identifying a product, please contact our team before ordering.
13. Equipment Attachments
Used and surplus attachments can have different condition characteristics from smaller replacement components because of their size and intended working environment.
Depending on the individual attachment, reasonable condition characteristics may include paint wear, surface marks, previous mounting evidence, working-surface wear or other characteristics consistent with its stated condition.
Customers purchasing an attachment should carefully review available specifications, mounting information, dimensions and condition details before ordering.
14. Storage & Warehouse Effects
Some machinery components may remain in storage for extended periods, particularly surplus, discontinued or difficult-to-find inventory.
Storage can result in cosmetic characteristics such as dust, packaging wear, minor surface discoloration or other non-use related characteristics.
Where a storage-related characteristic is material to the condition of the individual product and known to us, we aim to represent the item appropriately.
15. Sourced & Special-Order Products
Ranmar Tractor Supply may help customers locate specialized or hard-to-find equipment parts that are not immediately available from existing inventory.
When a product is specifically sourced for a customer, available condition may depend on the inventory that can be located.
The applicable condition, price and relevant product information should be reviewed before the customer approves the sourced item.
For information regarding cancellation of special or sourced orders, please review our Cancellation Policy .
16. Condition & Pricing
The condition of a product can affect its price. A new component, new surplus component, used component and refurbished component of a similar type may be offered at different prices.
Customers should not assume that a price difference means the products are identical in condition.
Review the individual listing before purchase to understand what is being offered at the displayed or quoted price.
17. What Customers Should Check Before Ordering
Condition
Confirm whether the item is listed as new, surplus, used, refurbished or another stated condition.
Part Identification
Compare the part number, model, specifications and other identifying information.
Compatibility
Confirm that the component or attachment is suitable for your specific equipment and application.
18. Product Condition Upon Delivery
Customers should inspect products reasonably promptly after delivery and compare the item received with the applicable product description and order information.
If you believe the product received is materially different from the condition in which it was represented, contact Ranmar Tractor Supply promptly.
Where possible, retain:
- The product;
- Shipping packaging;
- Product labels;
- Part-number markings;
- Delivery documentation; and
- Photographs showing the issue.
This information can assist our team in reviewing your concern.
19. Incorrect or Misdescribed Condition
If you believe an item was materially misdescribed with respect to its condition, contact us before installing, modifying, repairing or otherwise materially altering the product.
Provide your order number, the product concerned and a clear description of the condition issue. Photographs may be requested where they are useful for evaluating the concern.
Where a return is appropriate, please follow the procedure described in our Warranty & Returns Policy .
20. Installation & Modification
Customers should verify that a product is correct before installation, modification, disassembly or other material alteration.
Installing or modifying a component can make it more difficult to determine its condition at the time of delivery and may affect return or warranty eligibility depending on the circumstances.
If you believe an item is incorrect or materially different from its description, contact us before proceeding with installation whenever reasonably possible.
21. Product Condition & Warranty
Product condition and warranty coverage are related but separate matters.
A product being new does not, by itself, establish a specific warranty period. Likewise, a used or refurbished product should not automatically be assumed to have the same warranty terms as a new product.
Applicable warranty coverage should be determined from the individual product information and our Warranty Policy .
22. Product Condition & Returns
The condition in which a product was sold and the condition in which it is returned may be relevant when determining return eligibility.
For example, a product purchased as new and subsequently installed, used, damaged or materially altered may no longer be in the same condition in which it was supplied.
The applicable return process and eligibility requirements are explained in our Warranty & Returns Policy .
